Continue to be a DRM-free store , today, tomorrow, and forever! in progress
I buy on gog because it's drm free. If there is a drm, then I'll go back to steam, where they also support linux...
Folks, look at the DRM-Unfree DLCs for Fishing North Atlantic. GOG broke this wish! That's the fact, as well as accidents like Hitman GOTY.
DRM free is why I shop with you guys. I've been with you since the first beta days (2007?) I support you because of DRM-free.
Sunken cost fallacy. Steam users have sunken in so much time and money into a platform pushing convenience at the expense of paying customers. I'd hate the idea that this platform will turn out different. Ownership matters, by principle alone. Respect matters too. No more of this shit.
agreed. this service is largely garbage. come join our environment! we're like steam, pictureofwomensayingtheyrenotlikeothergirls.wojack
Continue? That ship has sailed a long time ago. Might as well bin this request now or change it to 'Return to being a DRM-free store'.
The reason people support GOG. How can this even be a discussion?
DRM free games is what GoG is about and should always be about. DRM is awful especially when you play an older game you bought long ago and that garbage pops up telling you to go online to log into some long dead server to activate your game. Buying from GoG is reassuring that we don't need to worry about that.
It was thanks to GOG that I realized how essential DRM-Free stuff is. That's why I don't like Steam or most storefronts that sell you just a more sophisticated rental service, instead of allowing you to OWN the things you buy. <br /> <br /> GOG MUST adhere to that DRM-Free commitment, it's the reason why they have succeed and why they are still alive
Reading your comments I feel shamed. I am collector of games bought so much in last 11 years but they are not DRM free, mostly on steam... But lately Im thinking what if i switch to gog. Sure I will have to buy bunch of them again, but I didnt know much about drm subject. To tell you the truth I like steam less and less each day and I like what gog is offering. What do you think? Should I switch?
agree
+1
Given their recent announcement (GOG 2022 update #2), it's now clear they have no intention of fulfilling that wish.
The day that the products you sell are no longer free of Despicable Restrictions Manure (DRM) will be the last day and the last penny I spend on GoG. As the old saying goes, «For DRM-free games there is GoG, for everything else there is BitTorrent».
As a long-time gamer, having access to DRM free games via a digital storefront is very dear to me.
Only DRM-free catalog is the only reason I considered GOG as a THE safe place for gaming. Having non fully DRM-free content in the catalog is a stab in the back.
i am here because its a DRM-free store
<a href="https://youtu.be/oH7nLTrRVGA" class="light_un" target="_blank">https://youtu.be/oH7nLTrRVGA</a> <br /> <br /> is GOG good now?
Does No Man's Sky have DRM? :/

+1 because I can't vote on it since it's "in progress"
I wish GOG didn't lie about being DRM Free, their idea of DRM free is tying it to the GOG client for multiplayer, their definition of DRM free seems to be for single player off network games only. And this is a joke, especially with some games gated behind needing multiplayer to get the full unlocked content.
This didn't age well.
присутствие игры "Hitman" 2016 года ставит под сомнение статус "в работе" этого запроса сообщества GOG
And while you're at it, remove Hitman, Northgard and No Man's Sky from the store because they have DRM.
By now, more than ever, the 'in progress' sticker is a lie. Please replace it with an 'abandoned' note, GOG!
In Regress
"in progress" PFFFT
HITMAN 2016 has DRM
this ended miserably
GoG lost respect in buckets with only a single game ... If it becomes like Steam I will stop buying. You should aim to be the best store, not the least worst one!
I wish GOG remained Good Old Games, but it's more like Average New Games nowadays and we already got Steam for that.
I guess this is no longer "in progress". What a disappointment. Hitman 2016 has DRM so there's no way this can still be in progress.
Lies upon lies, GOG.
Shouldn't this be changed from "in progress" to "unfulfilled"?
IN PROGRESS MY ASS.
Girls, boys, I brought chips...
With the release of hitman 2016 you can reject this. Drm in a single player game. I just cannot believe how low gog is right now
Gog is great for people up in rural mountains when storms are overhead or all you have is the laptop. Pop on Silent Hill 4 in a storm and when you hear a tree limb snap and hit the ground with an audible THUD you almost **** the bed.
You can remove this from the wishlist as GoG has already implemented and used broadly their DRM system.
Yo i remember first hearing of you and the whole drm free thing won it for me everytime. To the point i barely use steam, never install origin and dont own hardly any gog games but after the whole spore thing long side one of the splinter cells having one time activation and more recently buying some disc total war games from a charity shop to find out needed steam for one time activation gog is the only consistant games market out there. Goin against the popular arguement about pirates and p2p and sticking by it. Dont let anyone buy gog out infact stick it to epic and give away some half decent games monthly (they must be making money some how and predict to own most of the gaming market like 50 years from now). The market feels hand crafted and would love to see intergration with stores like itch. Infact a "One ring to fit them all" style launcher is needed! something free polished and just works. Damn there must be an unseen business model to make mega money in it. I dont see giants like msi giving out after burner purely through generosity lol.
and finally the source: <br /> <a href="https://www.gog.com/forum/general/drm_on_gog_list_of_singleplayer_games_with_drm/post413" class="light_un" target="_blank"><br /> https://www.gog.com/forum/general/drm_on_gog_list_of_singleplayer_games_with_drm/post413</a>
The link below is where the quote was poster originally: <br /> <a href="https://www.gog.com/forum/general/drm_on_gog_list_of_singleplayer_games_with_drm/page1" class="light_un" target="_blank"><br /> https://www.gog.com/forum/general/drm_on_gog_list_of_singleplayer_games_with_drm/page1</a>
<br /> Looks like DRM on GOG is hear to stay: <br /> <br /> The quote below was taken from Time4Tea's <a href="form("https://www.gog.com/forum/general/boycotting_gog_2021/page1")" class="light_un" target="_blank">form("https://www.gog.com/forum/general/boycotting_gog_2021/page1")</a> <br /> "All games available on GOG have offline installers available. We stay in touch with the partners and do our best to keep them up to date. However, video games continue to evolve with many titles offering online modes, cosmetics, and incentives for completing certain actions by players. This might be subjective, but as long as these additional features and rewards do not affect the single-player offline experience in a major way, we believe that the developers and publishers should be free to design and sell their games in a way they choose." <br /> Can not say I'm surprised. I just disappointed at this stage. <br /> Forget not buying from GOG, at this rate I'm seriously considering deleting my GOG account altogether if they continue this one way ticket to destruction.
I only recently discovered GOG. I've actually rebought games I already owned on Steam because the idea of DRM-free gaming is important to me, and I'd gladly rebuy more of my Steam library if it got released on here (Red Dead, the rest of the Assassin's Creeds, GTA V, Skyrim, just to name a few).
This is the reason I made an account. I couldn't buy any games here if that happened QwO
I couldnt agree more, if it werent for gog, i would have pirated every game i love, but being that we have a great team like the one behind gog, i can play my favorite games without having to sign into some sort of 3rd party, or be connected to the internet. most people dont have a problem with that fact, but one day there may be a new type of network that isnt compatible with these old games anymore, that, or i myself might move back to the country, and internet sucks in town where im at so ill for sure be playing offline. I owe gog for keeping me entertained the way i like to be, no hitches, no catches. this whole community is awesome and im glad im not alone with these views, games one day will be looked at like books and movies are now, and i think preservation is the best idea for all of this beautiful media!
I can only say the same, as many others have already pointed out here in the comments, that I have no reason left to be on GOG, if they would throw their greatest principle into the trashcan and shove us DRM all the way down our throats. Do you imagine how awesome it is, if you just download their games, burn them on a DVD and can then install them onto your actually gaming computer that has absolutely no internet access, because it just doesn’t need to have one and shall never either? Because that is exactly my way of living! I download the games from my laptop, which is my working/communication station so it obviously needs an internet connection, burn the files on DVD and then install the game on my gaming computer. If GOG would introduce us to DRM then this is it for me. I do not care about multiplayer either. I am a die-hard solo player since my childhood and I will also die this way. Plus, I do not need to be connected to the internet, just to proof myself that I have gained any kind of achievements. What is so special about this nonsense anyway? If I play a video game then I do so for having a good time, now THAT is my achievement! <br /> <br /> Looking at the list of GOG games that now require some form of DRM is really giving me the creeps. I have nothing against typing a serial number one time after an installation process, because that is how it was in the 90s and early 2000s and I never got a problem with that, but forcing me to be online all the time, with no way to realize who can get and use my data while I am playing, not to mention that the internet connection can have a negative effect on your framerate and the game’s overall performance, and with the fear that one day I may not be able to play this game anymore, because someone at the responsible company shuts down the servers because they no longer support that old game, is really an absolute no go to me. Giving us DRM would mean that one day all these old gems on here won’t be playable for anyone anymore, if the servers are being taken offline and turn to dust, together with these games! Do you really believe that a game that just came out will still be supported in 10-15 years? What if you love the game and want to play it again then? No, thanks to DRM and dead servers you will never be able to play it again! <br /> <br /> If GOG would decide to stop the DRM free promise, they will soon to be gone from the market and I do not need to be a prophet to say that. So, for the love of God and video games, stay DRM free forever!
"MegisED <br /> This platform hasn't been DRM free in quite a while..." < That's excatly how it is, unfortunately. This thread has already lost its purpose :(
After having a bunch of games I already bought and work for years no longer function on Windows 10 such that my only options were to look for a piracy option, do without or repurchase - I will no longer buy anything with DRM as none of these are happy solutions. <br /> <br /> Steam has a much larger library than GOG. However people purchase games from GOG because they've been burned already by DRM in the past and no longer want anything to do with it. <br /> <br /> I am aware that there are some titles, such as Cyberpunk 2077, that have DRM features. For that same reason, this is a game that I wouldn't accept even if you're were giving it away for free. <br /> <br /> Steam has a much larger library to choose from. If I was willing to accept DRM, I'd just buy from them.
